Duration: 4 weeks Class Length: 2.5–3 hours per session Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate Focus: Building texture, dimension, and expressive mark-making using acrylic paints, modeling paste, palette knives.
We will be working on two paintings in the 4 week course. First painting will be on a 12x16 inch canvas, second painting will be on a 16x20 inch canvas (wooden frame included).
By the end of the course, students will:
Understand the principles of impasto painting
Use acrylic mediums to create texture
Apply palette knife and sculptural painting techniques
Learn how to create realistic and expressive landscape textures
Understand how texture can enhance depth, atmosphere and movement
